• 4 Simple Ways To Live a Healthy Life

Sean Lewis, our Coach of the Week, has over 20 years of experience in the fitness and wellness industry. Sean shares with us today his secrets to live a healthy life: the 4 R’s.

There can be no doubt that we live in a time of ever growing complexity. Change is rapid and we all feel the pressure to adapt. For some, these are exciting times while for others it’s the source of anxiety. Anxiety can give way to poor lifestyle habits and all too often, depression, fatigue, and total body disconnect which prevent us from living a healthy life.

For the past 20 years I built my personal training and lifestyle awareness business in the heart of downtown. It has given me a unique perspective on work life, personal pressure, and how it plays into one’s health. Among my client base, I observed distinctly different behavior in regards to self care. Some would pursue a highly disciplined exercise and nutrition based approach to their health, while all too many sought out treatment or what I call the “fix me” plan, and were highly resistant to lifestyle adaptations.

My approach was never to judge the actions of clients but to understand them so I could better guide them to lead a healthy active lifestyle.. After all, no one truly wants to be in poor physical condition and feel 20 years older than they actually are! As my outlook matured, I became more and more focused on that majority of our population that was, and still is on a path of premature aging and early onset lifestyle related illness. Prevention is without a doubt the most efficient and efficacious way to manage health. The problem always remains how to get that majority of our population engaged in some form of lifestyle modification that would nudge them on a better path toward optimal health.

    The 4 R’s For A Healthy Life

Over the past 5 years I developed a 4 pillars system that if applied to ones life, tremendous health rewards are an inevitable outcome. These 4 simple ways are a reminder that many of us omit the most basic yet fundamental practices that are key determinants of our health. I call them the 4 R,s:

    1. Rest
    2. Relationships
    3. Regimented nutrition
    4. Recreation

These seemingly simple aspects of our life are the most neglected in our busy day-to-day activities. Sadly many of us prioritize everything other than these 4 essential pillars of healthy living. I spent much of the last five years speaking at corporations, introducing my 4 R’s to the corporate audience. Not surprisingly, many attendees confessed to neglecting 1 or more of these key elements of healthy living and fully recognized that it was a major concern for their well being.

Over the next 4 weeks I’ll be sharing my insight into the 4 ways of healthy living and examining each of them in detail. Find out how the most simple adjustments in your lifestyle can have the most profound change in how you feel and look!
