What do successful business people do to stay on top even during economic crises? How do they keep their clients happy? These are some questions that most business-oriented people would ask. Mark Lachance is sharing with us some tips on how you can go over the top with your clients. Apply these 5 tips and you will surely see a difference in your business!
I had the fortunate opportunity to attend Business Mastery in January of 2011, hosted by Tony Robbins in Las Vegas. This was an event where thousands of business owners gathered looking for that edge or that new idea to maximize growth. Tony had many incredible speakers lined up including business tycoons like Peter Guber, CEO of Mandalay Entertainment and also a co-owner of two professional sports teams: the Golden State Warriors of the National Basketball Association (NBA) and the Los Angeles Dodgers of Major League Baseball; Chet Holmes, author of the Ultimate Sales Machine; Frank Kern, considered by many to be the top guru in the internet marketing space today; among many other highly successful and accomplished entrepreneurs.
The speaker that most caught my imagination and truly resonated with me was Steve Wynn, CEO of the Wynn Resort and Casino Group. Steve spoke for several hours and kept the attendees at the edge of their seats with his excellent and very colorful stories of leadership and outstanding customer service. For those that do not know, in 2007 and 2008, Las Vegas and the world were hit with the worst financial crisis since the Great Depression. All but two casinos in Las Vegas were severely hemorrhaging cash and were on the verge of bankruptcy. The two that remained profitable were The Wynn and Encore Casinos, both owned by none other than Steve Wynn.
His formula for success: “Morale is the backbone of any business”.
He continually asks the question: “How can I raise human aspirations?” He believes in lifting the spirit of his employees on a daily basis, so that they are motivated to pass it onward to the clientele. If you increase the self-esteem of the people within a business, then success is inevitable. His rules are very simple:
- Anything that is immediately gratifying is repeated
- Service is everything
- Go over the top with your clients and employees
- Give recognition constantly
- Give your clients and employees ideas that lift them everyday
How does this apply to you and your clients? It starts with a story and a wonderful experience, followed by a compliment and then a smile. How do you go over the top with your clients? How about a simple post on Facebook? How about a handwritten note? How about a simple “thank you”?
If you concentrate on one thing; “Go over the top with your clients” and do that one thing consistently, then you too can achieve what Steve Wynn has achieved.
How do you go over the top? Here are 5 things that you can implement right away to go over the top:
- Follow up with your clients or employees via text, phone or email every 2 to 3 days
- Consistently compliment them on a job well done
- Post each and every success story on Facebook
- Create your clients story by taking a before picture and tracking their progress
- Push for them to be recognized by everybody all of the time
You will certainly be well served by taking a page out of Steve Wynn’s playbook.
